Karen Dovner is an enthusiastic traveler who has been interested in exploring the world for as long as she can remember. She credits her love of travel to her upbringing; as the daughter of a German mother and a Croatian father, Karen frequently traveled to Europe with her parents, where she saw firsthand where they had grown up and how they had lived.

Once Karen finished her studies and began her career in marketing in cosmetics, her love of travel did not lessen — in fact, she often was fortunate enough to travel on behalf of her work. Over the years she traveled extensively through Europe, including parts of Italy, Spain, and France. She also frequently traveled to Asia for business, and she has been to Hong Kong, China, Thailand, and more.

Since Karen retired from her professional work, she now enjoys traveling on her own for personal enjoyment. Her next trip will be to Cuba; after that, she will do driving tours through Italy, France, and Spain, which will allow her to sightsee behind the wheel in some of the world’s most iconic locations.

For Karen, traveling is a one-of-a-kind chance to truly understand a new place and take in its culture through cuisine, landmarks and attractions, and simple day-to-day life. And while she has explored plenty of well-known tourist spots, she also takes every opportunity she gets to connect with locals and listen to their stories. One of Karen’s fondest travel memories is when she traveled to Rome and lodged in a local person’s home, where she got to truly know life in the area.

While she has traveled internationally for many years, Karen also enjoys exploring parts of the United States. One of her fondest memories of vacationing in the U.S. took place out west, where she did a “city slicker” trip that gave her a crash course in everything from cattle driving to fly fishing.

Karen currently resides in Delray Beach, Florida. She enjoys working out, spending time at her local beach club and country club, and relaxing with her family.
